Ok Jaanu – Movie Review

3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)

A simple and light weight movie to chill upon and will really give you some cozy feelings. The story and theme is targeted to the new generation audience who will actually get involved in the story while watching it. It is not comparable with Aashiqui 2 as both have a different story prospect. Aashiqui 2 was a kind of love story which is portraying the madness and sacrifice for love. This one is presenting the love life of every next youngster living in metro cities far from families. One of the biggest truth of current Indian Generation is like they want a causal relationship, a western outlook to their life but most of them don’t realize that from the bottom of the heart they are still someone who actually want to be in a relationship where they want love like 90’s Bollywood movies. Even if they want that from inside, don’t want to accept it coz they believe it may stop them to be modern or it makes them feel like a classic person or this is the way of life.

Well not going out of topic let’s talk about the movie.
Movie is all about a couple who met in a common friend’s marriage ceremony and get attracted to each other. Both individuals have different aspects in their life and were chasing the same. So, don’t want to be in a relationship where any commitment is needed. But as somebody rightly said love happens without your permissions, it is a feeling which can be controlled, but you cannot erase it from your brain ever, if you ever felt true love for anybody. Then there is a journey of couple living together with beautiful light moments and with an obvious climax. The lacking point of the movie is the climax, which is very predictable and straight. But the pace of the movie was good and entertainer throughout the whole two hours fifteen minutes.
The lead actors Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor were really awesome and they look so natural while doing these kinds of roles. Shraddha no doubt looking very beautiful in the movie and best thing about her is like she actually represents the beauty of a girl every next door. It is the simplicity and cuteness more than the beauty which actually made her perfect. Commendable acting by the legend actor Naseeruddin Shah and Leela Samson. Music is very awesome composed by A R Rahman, specially the Enna Sona and Hamma Hamma song.

A light romantic movie for a one time watch with beautiful songs.

Budhia Singh – Born to Run

3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)

A forgotten hero is narrated again through the silver screen. A big applause for Director Soumendra Padhi for making this film and let the world know about the wonder boy Budhia Singh. The story is based on the boy who was only five years old when he completed 48 marathons. Budhia Awooga Singh was born in 2002 at Orrisa, an Indian boy and world’s youngest marathon runner. The legendary run of his life was from Puri to Bhubaneshwar at the age of four covering 65 kilometres in seven hours and two minutes.

budhiasingh

His coach Branchi Das was the person behind this wonderful boy who discovered Budhia’s ability to run for longer durations. Manoj Bajpayee played the role of Branchi Das in the movie. Mayur Mahendra Patole is the kid playing the role of Budhia. Later, The Indian Child Welfare officials came into picture and made an accusation of exploiting the child by Mr. Das. They put a ban on Budhia’s running and the ban still continues. Budhia is now 14 years old and still living as an another odd child at sports hostel of Bhubneshwar.

Movie is filled with enthusiasm and thrill of Budhia and his coach. Manoj Bajpayee nailed the role of Branchi Das as always he does in his films. Shruti Marathe is there in the movie as wife of Branchi Das. shruti-maratheTilotama Shome is playing the role of Budhia’s mother. Technically movie is little slow around interval, audience was expecting a thrilling end at climax but as it was biopic and thus, nothing can be shown so much dramatically, so it is ignorable. The important thing is that we should not forget Budhia Singh and should support him for his career. As per late Mr. Branchi Das, Budhia is the person who can bring a gold medal for India in Olympics. He was keen to participate Budhia in 2016 Olympics but unfortunately it didn’t happen. Hoping this movie will lighten up the carrier of Budhia and he can bring back his glory and power for running marathons like before.

A must watch to know about a forgotten Hero

Housefull 3 – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Directors Sajid Samji and Farhad Samji made it great as compared to the last sequels of Housefull. Movie is very light and quite good comedy if you really want to get relaxed from your daily hectic routine. As it was shown in trailer, Movie is all about three men convincing a father that they are fit for marrying his daughters. Akshay kumar, as always maintaining the legacy of comedy, he started from Hera Pheri and in this movie he has split personality disorder of one naughty side and another good side. Ritesh Deshmukh has again done full justice to his role of acting as blind in front of father of girls.

actors-housefull3

Abhishek Bachchan is back with a bang and this time you can see a matured comedy from the actor with really funny scenes like saving Aishwarya’s wax statue from falling down and tolerating tortures to proof himself dumb in front of the father of girls. Booman Irani is there as father of three girls Jacqulin Fernadez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon. As always he outraged the character of a high class Gujarati, who lives in London.

ritesh

All three pretty girls are looking beautiful and awesome throughout the movie. You can see Jacky Shroff with a twist in the movie in a dashing role of Don threatening our chocolaty heroes. Chunky Pandey is back again in this movie with his famous dialogue “I am a Joookkiiinngg”.

Overall, it is a lightweight movie with excellent comedy.

Veerappan – Movie Review

3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)

This time Ram Gopal Varma nailed it with good cinema, awesome narration, direction and excellent performance from Sandeep Bhardwaj as Veerappan. This movie is biographical story of Indian bandit Veerappan who was spreading terror with his notorious crimes, sandal wood and elephant teeth smuggling, for nearly 30 years in the forests of the states of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Various operations held by police failed to catch Veerappan. He killed more than 184 people in his span, out of them 87 was police officials and forest officers. Almost killed more than 900 elephants for teeth smuggling.

ushajadhav-veerappan

He kidnapped Kannada actor Raj Kumar for his desire of fame and money. This movie almost projected his life events and perfectly portrayed the terror and sharpness of Veerappan. While watching the movie I felt that it is made for glorifying a criminal or to project such a personality in front of public, in such a vast state that for 30 years our forces couldn’t catch him. This can also make negative impact on the people of our country. Some youth may get inspired by him. However, Ram Gopal Verma made this with good intention, as per his statement, “Making Veerappan is not glorifying a criminal, but it is to put a mirror to how he was allowed to happen in the first place”.

sachin-joshi

Sachin Joshi is playing the role of police officer who made the master plan to bring Veerappan out of the jungle and to encounter him. I must say it was exciting watching him in this character, brilliant and outstanding performance. Usha Jadhav playing the role of Muthulakshmi, wife of Veerappan is remarkable in the movie. You can see Lisa Ray back to the silver screen with excellent piece of acting. She is playing the role of a widow whose husband was a police officer and got killed by Veerappan. She coordinated with police to make the master plan for trapping Veerappan. veerappan-lisarayShiva Rajkumar a suspended cop was the important person in the movie to get Veerappan trapped. Besides having a short role in the movie he nailed the character and I bet he will be in the mind of audience for long time due to his unique style of acting. Other than this you can expect some loud background score in the movie as like the signature style of Mr. Ram Gopal Varma.

Well, it is a must watch to know about the biggest villain till today in the world.

Sarbjit – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

A movie which you should not miss at any cost. Brilliant piece of cinema from Director Omung Kumar based on the real story of a person who by mistake crossed the Pakistan border and got arrested with an allegation of being Indian Spy and later mistaken as Ranjith Singh who was accused for a serial bomb blast in Pakistan. Movie begins with the happy go days of Sarbjit in a small village at Punjab nearby India-Pakistan border. After being caught by Pakistan army, the beyond third degree torture that he undergo, and the way he is been treated in the Pakistani Jail is terrific and hard to even think about it. He is later sentenced for capital punishment by the supreme court of Pakistan. Randeep Hooda played the role of Sarbjit and I have no words to explain his performance. His dedication and the outstanding performance outraged his all past roles and I guess this one may be the best one till now. Talking about dedication, he revealed looks of skinny and weak Sarbjit in jail, for which he has been in starvation mode monitored by his sister Dr. Anjali Hooda. He lost 18 Kgs in the span of 28 days and it was like a torture for him. He was only allowed to 500-600 calories a day with no starch and only protein.

randeep-hooda

Another side, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rocked the screen with her equally powerful character or I can say little overshadowed Randeep Hooda by her brilliant performance. She played the role of Sarbjit’s sister who devoted her whole life to go after Sarbjit, fight against system and Pakistan government to prove the innocence of her brother and to bring him back to India.

aishwarya

The sixty percent of movie is filled with her presence portraying the whole life journey of a young lady to a white haired old woman devoting whole of her life for an impossible mission and fight against the world. Richa Chadda is there in the movie as wife of Sarabjit. Very effortlessly she portrayed the emotional journey of a women losing her husband for no reason in her early romantic days of marriage and left with two children, who not even get to see their father’s face in consciousness.

richa chadda

While watching the movie you will realize how lucky you are as you are sitting in some lavish seats of a multiplex and watching the movie freely. Just think about the man who got trapped in a wooden box for months without food and light. Pakistan army left him with mice in the same box, he was being bitten and infected by them. Third degree torture and everything without even the person know why he is there and what is his offence. So next time when you feel that you are not satisfied with the life given my almighty you should think there are hell lot of people still trapped in Pakistan Jails without any reason. It is not a one sided thing; more than 275 Pakistan people are also there in Indian jail as per the stats of 2015.

Movie is a must watch to realize the value of your life, and to experience the outstanding performance of Randeep and Aishwarya.

Ki & Ka – Movie Review

3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)         #KiandKa

A different story and concept from Director R Balki. To describe in one line, I can say it is a light and soothing love story with a different attitude of our regular life assumptions. On the go, movie is quite entertaining in the manner of cast, romance and regular Bollywood masala. Kareena Kapoor Khan looking beautiful and completely justifying her role in the movie. Somewhat it is not a hero or heroine oriented movie, I guess, both are leading the movie in different aspects as portrayed by the story itself.

kika

Arjun Kapoor the charming guy, he is day by day turning into new heights by delivering characters like in 2 States and now this one. I guess he is the perfect person for this role and nobody can replace him in this movie. Talking more about the movie, it is all about the reciprocal of duties towards life between a male and female we follow as a standard in the society. It is giving a message against the stereotypes of the society, it should be an individual’s passion and choice to do or chose the way you want to live your life. I felt the lacking point is the emotional quotient. No doubt movie is delivering a great message to society about the choice of freedom in life. Equality of men and women, Women empowerment. The ego and insecurity which without any reason spoil your relationship and life.

As an audience I never attached emotionally with the movie due to low quotient of the charismatic intrusion to the brain of us. Somewhat this may be the best part for few people as it is totally light on your mind. Nothing will remain back on you while walking out of the theater other than a smile which speaks up you enjoyed the movie with the fantastic cast and screenplay.

swaroopsampat

You can see Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in the movie in a special appearance which is really adding some good points to the whole presentation. Swaroop Sampat is back on screen as mother of Kareena after long, an actress in various movies like Naram Garam, Miss India contest in 1979 and represented India at Miss Universe 1979 and wife of great actor Paresh Rawal.

Well, it is a must watch to experience something light and different in the screen with some good message to the society.

Rocky Handsome – Movie Review

2.5 out of 5 stars (2.5 / 5)

A movie with insane fight moves as per Bollywood standards along with a massive “Hulk figure” John Abraham. The initial fifteen minutes of movie is slow and lagging and the screenplay is dark. It may bore you and disappoint you till almost first half. Movie will pace up very nicely after the interval and the real thriller series begins after interval.

john-abraham-759

Director Nishikant Kamat lacked somewhere in the first half, he himself is acting as the villain in the movie in a bald look. All the actors like John, Nishikant, Sharad Kelkar  gave their best as was required for the role but I guess somewhere the screenplay and direction went wrong in the overall presentation. The plot was good, casting was accurate. The story lagged while showing the flash back, the effort to connect the present to past became little boring and almost predictable.

nishikanth267

The seven-year-old kid Diya Chalwat, I can say she had the best performance in the movie with so much real emotions and expressions. Talking about the story it is all about a vengeful man chasing for the culprit madly for his 7-year-old baby friend who had Diya-Chalwadbeen kidnapped for some reason. Movie roles around the past of John and the journey of rescuing the girl from kidnappers. John Abraham was really looking huge with awesome and outstanding physique and fighting scenes. Shruti Hassan is there in a cameo role as John’s wife with not at all needed song in the first half.

Overall, watch it for John Abraham, awesome fighting scenes and the brilliant Diya Chalwat…

Kapoor & Son’s (Since 1921) – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

If you really want to see a family drama, then this is the pick for you. Very beautifully carved characters with awesome chemistry and appearances. Movie is all about understandings and misunderstandings amongst a family consisting parents, two sons and a grandpa.

kapoor-and-sons

The scenes are set in a beautiful village somewhere near hilly areas of tamilnadu. Beautiful landscapes and charismatic set added an extra treat to audiences’ eyes to get relaxed in between the nasty quarrels of family. A not so perfect couple having two sons who jelled together really well, hiding an emotional twist over ones mind which becomes chilly or sweet sometimes. A grandpa with naughty and evergreen nature will really make you laugh on his cheesy dialogues.

rishi-kapoor-kapoor-sons

It is rishi kapoor hidden behind a brilliant makeup, making him look really old and different in the role. Rajat Kapoor and Ratna Pathak, two brilliant actors, playing as parents of the family are outstanding in their roles. They are gonna remain in your mind for long even after the movie. Fawad Khan with his awesome looks and some hidden twist in his role rocked the screen with his brilliant performance. Alia Bhatt, as always, a cute and pretty girl with bindaas nature and attitude. Siddhart Malhotra as younger son of family coupled with Alia did well and brought himself into realistic acting like what he did on Finding Fanny.

Overall it is a treat to your family to understand that nobody is perfect and it is the understanding and little adjustments which can make your life crispy and crazy.

Airlift – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

One of the most awaited film of 2016, predicted as a block buster before it’s release because of the deadly combo of Akshay Kumar and the story line. Director Raja Menon amazingly made the movie with a perfect direction leading the story in a mix and match of thrill and emotion.

Airlift-Movie-Akshay-Kumar-HD-Wallpaper-3

Akshay Kumar rocked the screen with his outstanding performance as Ranjit Katyal (based on the real life character Sunny Mathew),  an influential business person based in Kuwait. He is one of the key person who stood with 1, 70,000 Indians based there and helped them to get back to our country. Movie has realistic filming and sets are amazingly designed just like a war zone. Nimrat Kaur did a fantastic Job as wife of Akshay Kumar, supported the pace of the movie towards the peak.

akshay-nimrat-759

You can see Lena (Actress from Kerala) as a Malayali with some Malayalam dialogues and Purab Kohli as Ibrahim in supporting roles doing really well. The story of the movie is based on the real incident where India owes a Guinness World Record for the largest Airlift evacuation in the history. It happened on 2nd August 1990, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and the Iraq Army took over the Kuwait in few hours. The Kuwait Government escaped to Saudi Arabia without even thinking about their people and massive population from outside Kuwait working there. In the collaboration of Indian Airlines, Air India and Air Force, India did this heroic evacuation by operating 488 flights from 13th August to 11th October 1990. A total of 1, 70,000 people were airlifted to Mumbai.

Movie is also having some beautiful songs like “Soch Na Sake” and “Tu Bhoola Jise” making the soul more strong. I salute the officials who worked behind this historical event of 1990 but on the same time movie also project the lack of coordination and arrangement of our country in this kind of situation. But I am proud that in our current time, we are well equipped and alerted for this kind of situation as an example the rescue mission of Indian national nurses from Syria last year.

Go and watch the movie to experience history and thrill…

Katti Batti – Movie Review

1 out of 5 stars (1 / 5)

Katti Batti is an attempt to recreate the magic of Kangana with her bold and distinguished sense of acting and performance, but I am feeling sorry for Director Nikhil Advani as it completely went wrong and turned out to be a disaster which will make you bored for complete two and half hours.

kangana

Movie started with very slow and depressive momentum, audience expected the momentum to pace up till interval however it never happened till the end. There is not even a bit of hold of the movie over audience as I observed people playing games and leaving the theater in between the movie. Story is based on relationship mess ups and complication and suddenly come up with a ninety’s kind of climax. As mentioned Kangana is in a bold kind of rich girl’s character with a lavish attitude towards life. Flirting with a next to door regular guy’s character played by Imran Khan turned into a true love and their ups and downs of chemistry.

imran-kangana

Imran again in a chocolaty look ordinary guy with expression less acting is also a turn off for the film. Movie is full of masala, catchy dialogues and situations but what actually went wrong is the theme of flash backs and the overall presentation and lack of thrill required for this kind of subject.

Well, as per my review it is not even worth watching once
