Manjhi, The Mountain Man – Movie Review

3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)

A true piece of art and cinema is the one liner for the movie Manjhi – The Mountain Man. It is a movie based on the true story of a man Dashrath Manjhi from Bihar, India who carved a road through a mountain alone investing a long 22 years. The story itself is full of determination and motivation. Director Ketan Mehta very beautifully picturized the same into silver screen.

NAWAZUDDINSIDDIQUE

Movie is presenting the newly independent India, the evils and problems faced by backward villages of India at that time. Makers of the movie created environment of a Bihar village so perfectly that the audience can time travel through the village by feeling like you are there in the place Gehlaur. Almost shown all the evils prevailed that time like ruined Zamindari System, Untouchability, and people turning into naxalite to fight against.

Other than the story, movie is gifted with a person as lead actor, the legend of acting in himself, Mr. Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He nailed a movie again – this time with his unique kind of natural acting, giggling, laughter, dialogues, versatile expression and much more. Story of determination and motivation is actually ignited with the power of love and romance with the very beautiful actress Radhika Apte.

manjhi

The chemistry between Nawazuddin and Radhika is unbelievable. Radhika switched into the character so effortlessly that you can’t even imagine she is the same girl from Badlapur. Ashraf Ul Haque as father of Dashrath, Tigmanshu Dhulia as Zamindar, Pankaj Tripathi as son of Zamindar it is a bunch of highly talented actors, most of them imported from Gangs of Wasseypur.

Manjhi-Radhika-Apte

It is also a slap on Indian Government’s face ruled or ruined the country after Independence that, Shri. Dashrath Manjhi started digging the mountain from 1960 and he abled to carve a basic road for bullock carts and pedestrians till 1982. He tried his best to get help from government to build a proper road there to connect his village with outer world for basic necessity, amenities and a good connectivity shortening 80 KM distance to 1 KM. But he died in 2007, and finally the government built a road there in 2011 and named as Dashrath Manjhi Path. It is a shame that it took too long to realize the dedication and sacrifice of a great soul.

“Movie is a must watch! It is a real tribute to the real hero of determination, love and motivation…”

All is Well – Movie Review

1.5 out of 5 stars (1.5 / 5)

All is Not Much Well, that is all I want to say about this movie. Director Umesh Shukla failed to create the humor he wants to; neither he been succeeded to deliver the message properly. alliswelltrailer759Movie is trying to deliver a message of family values, responsibility of children towards parents and value of relationships via some senseless and sensible humor. Even after bunching too many talented actors the charisma is not there in the movie.

mohammed_zeeshan_ayyub

Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Cheema the villain played an awesome and fantastic role in the movie with full justice to the comic role, I believe he is the only person who will leave mark on your mind after the movie. Abhishek Bachchan seems like he did the movie so casually that even he forgot to do the lip movement in corresponding to the songs or may be an editing fault. He is looking fake in all the singing sequences as the voice is not matching at all with his personality.sonakshi-sinha-all-is-well

As I mentioned in my previous review for Brother Movie… again an unwanted item number by Sonakshi Sinha in this movie which is completely out of the track along with the story as the song is filling in by some senseless reason.

Humor is being tried to create in the movie by various senseless topics like insulting or making fun of Punjabi culture. It is irritating in the movie from start to end that Asin is trying to win heart of Abhishek all over the movie and the attitude of the boy character is so rude and ruthless that no girl will ever talk to that guy again.

alliswell759
Somewhat movie gained a little soul in the last twenty five percentage and will give at least a mind satisfaction to a person who devoted 2.5 hours for this presentation. I personally feel like the kind of personality and talent carrying by Abhishek Bachhan, Rishi Kapoor and Asin Thottumkal is not a thing to waste in these kind of movies. Hope to see some improved cinema from them in future.

Please don’t waste your time and money at all for this movie!

Brothers – Movie Review

2.5 out of 5 stars (2.5 / 5)

A movie dedicated to Street fighting and mixed martial arts tournament. Director Karan Malhotra failed to bring the kind of excitement and energy he wants to fill into the movie. Movie started in a slow pace and it continue with the same till the intermission. The reason can be the style of presenting the story, which is in terms of each character’s flash back in the first half.

brother

It is a story of two sons of an old time champion street fighter Jackie Shroff as Gary. Jacqueline Fernandez, playing the role of wife of Akshay kumar as Jenny, looking beautiful and gorgeous in the character.

jacq1
Bringing Kareena Kapoor Khan in an item song “Mera naam Marry hai” doesn’t mean that it will help the movie being a hit. The song is completely waste and it is a kind of add on for the boring first half. I don’t understand the view point of most of the Hindi film makers, that why they need an item song to make the movie a hit. It is all about the story, the intensity that the director can create and also the cast. If you are not able to do that, it will only cater a certain group who is watching the movie only to see Kareena.

jacq
Somehow, the film managed to get the pace and excitement after the intermission and atleast paid justice to the audience who spent money over Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra in the role of a fighter. The workout circuit and training segments, the tournament fighting scenes showing various techniques and strategy of martial arts brought up the movie into an exciting mode. As mostly our films does it ended up with happy good go, and brought an end to the fire between two brothers. A fortunate, guessable climax with some serious moves of fight.

Watch the movie for some street fighting actions and to see Akshay Kumar and Sidharth in a real fighting avatar.

Bangistan – Movie Review

1.5 out of 5 stars (1.5 / 5)

A light comedy Movie along with a message from Director Karan Anshuman, but failed to impress audience completely. The dashing Pulkit Samrat and versatile Ritesh Deshmukh did there job with full justice but the script or the story lacked the soul and thus fail to present the actual thoughts of director. The intensity required in the movie was not there for the kind of message they want to spread even after bunch of great list of actors they bundled up with.

ritesh-pulkit

You can expect some good kind of punches and things they have placed in the imaginary place which they have named as Bangistan. For instance, McDonalds becomes FcDonalds, having a guy sitting with gun and painted face in the place of McDonalds’ Ronald. The kind of environment they have created for a call centre at Bangistan. Even after so much creativity it does not have that much effect and grasp over the audience. They have wasted the talent of Jacklyn Fernadez in the movie just for a song and a 5% appearance as a Bar Tender.

jacklyn
Movie is all about Terrorism and creating Terrorist in the name of religion. A humorous way to represent the message that please come over above the religion and join hands together for the utmost religion and that is Humanity. A Muslim explains Hindu about the message in Bhagwad Gita and the Hindu explain back the message conveyed in Quran.

Overall the movie is bit boring due to the emotionless screenplay… you can watch it for a light humour with some serious message.

Drishyam – Movie Review

3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)

A remake of Malayalam Movie – Drishyam starer Mohan Lal & Meena directed by Jeethu Joseph is re-drawn by Nishikant Kamat, leading role by Ajay Devgan and Shirya Saran. Even though the intensity what Mohanlal created is not there in the Hindi Version, but it is an excellent performance in class by Ajay Devgan.

drishyam

He may be the only one in the Film Industry for this role and probably will be chosen for National Award as Mohanlal earned. The weak and strong point of the movie was lady characters, Shirya Sharan lost it completely by giving a loose grab on the character and poor dialogue delivery. I am not sure either her dubbing artist or her own voice, it was completely emotion less and seems like lagging and in a very damn slow pitch. It was irritating the whole pace of movie.

But at the same side Tabu rocked the movie by the kind of intensity and mature performance she had on the screen. Almost parallel with Ajay she did a fantastic role of an IG Police .She is coming back to the silver screen with strong performances like earlier in Haider and now this one. Movie is all about a common man saving his family from the law after committing a crime unexpectedly.

drishyam-movie-review-audience-response-21

How cleverly he made a master plan simply spoofing the police by re-creating the whole incident in the manner to proof that they didn’t even know about the crime. This re-creation of the time is just like showing somebody a visual screen to make them believe that the truth is not what actually it is. Here comes out the meaning of title of the movie “Drishyam”…

It’s a one-time watch filled by thrill and suspense… go for it for a kind of watching serious acting.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan – Movie Review

4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Another blockbuster from Salman Khan for a 300 Crore Club race. This time Director Kabir Khan nailed it from Salman Khan making him doing some serious intense acting rather than the casual way of his performance which he usually does. I have always been thinking about Salman that he work generally with rookie directors and comedy oriented movie makers.

Selfie-song-from-Bajrangi-Bhaijaan1

When he is clubbed up with talented director the kind of output we received is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Tere Naam, Wanted, Kyunki and Bajrangi Types of movies. This may be the best film of his career, I wish it should not as we are expecting more such kind of movies from him. India already became the fan of the cute little girl Harshali Malhotra the “Munni” of Bajrangi.

harshali

As I saw somewhere in facebook a line that without speaking a single word she conquered the hearts of audience with her expressions and looks.

Movie is all about a kind hearted and simple country guy from India on a race to Pakistan illegally to return a mute girl back to her home. Initial phase of movie is with full of beautiful landscapes of Kashmir and eventually travelling to the thick and crowdy Old Delhi showing the beautiful country side of our Old delhi population and culture along with a very beautiful projection of Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah. May be some people can feel like the first part of the movie is little slow and lagging due to the way of flash back scenes they narrate but it all covered by the cuteness of Salman, Munni and Kareena.

kareena

Salman appears with an awesome energetic track “Selfi le le re” which brought the theater atmosphere to the heights. Following Bajrangi’s cute and kiddish activities leading an awesome track from Atif Aslam “Tu Chahiye”. Second Half starts with the rock solid performance of Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a reporter from Pakistan inspired from a real life character Chand Nawab, who became viral on youtube for his funny kind of reporting for a news coverage. There is an awesome track by Adnan Sami “Bharde Jholi Meri” which really mesmerize your soul with the pureness of Islamic Culture.

bhardo

This is a film which really depicts the actual humanity laid in the people of Pakistan and Hindustan irrespective of the anti-national elements aiming to break this love and relationship. Bajrangi was a person who have only faith in his own religion and feels uncomfortable to being in a Mosque or being with a Muslim person and eventually he realized his shortcomings and enlightens himself with knowledge about what actually a religion is? And how pure Islam is? It is not about the religions… there is only one race and that is Humanity.

It is a must watch for every Indian & Pakistani to realize what we actually are… And for others please watch it for an excellent story and performance…

ABCD 2 – Movie Review

3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)

Dance, Dance and Dance… That is the review for this Movie. As expected it is a presentation of various forms of dance with beauty and excellent choreography. Very well directed by Remo D’Souza and awesome music by Sachin Jigar made this movie a journey of music and dance.

I am forced to convey that this is also the weak point of the movie, as you are constantly watching music and dance for complete 2.5-3 hours in between they have bundled up a different song to show off the chemistry between the leads Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. As it is a Disney Presentation, you can expect outstanding 3D effects.

Emotional quotient they tried to give is not much efficient due to the poor performance of Prabhu Deva in the sense of acting (not about dance). varunYou can see Varun Dhawan in a dancing avatar flaunting abs and his ripped body along with a really good moves of the art. I must say this film pointed out and projected the talent of Shraddha Kapoor as a dancer, she was outstanding and almost overpowered the performance of Varun in most of the places.

shraddha

A great glimpse of the fantasy city of Las Vegas along with the blend of all culture into the form of dance. This time you can see a realistic end of the story even being a Bollywood movie. The original story is based on a Mumbai based dance group. In ABCD (1) they have a religious climax performance and this time they have a patriotic one.

Dance lovers can’t avoid this movie…

Hamari Adhuri Kahani – Movie Review

2 out of 5 stars (2 / 5)

A kind of emotional movie from 90’s with a modern touch is the one liner definition for this film. I would say it is keeping an emotional quotient from the starting to end without losing it even for a bit. No doubt over the talent of Vidya Balan as she did a fantastic role as a women who fell in love with a billionaire owing an empire of hotels all over the world.

vidaya

In between the beautiful love story of them, her past  coming up is the entire summary of movie. Emraan Hashmi look stunning in the movie as a business tycoon, that any enthusiastic can admire his character and aspire to be like him in the life.

hak1

Raj Kumar Yadav the talented actor debuted by Ragni MMS in 2011 is playing the husband of Vidya Balan paid full justice to his role. Movie is portraying the artistic view of a flower lover or a florist with rich presentation of awesome Dubai. In spite of movie being little slow, it is covered up by awesome music and outstanding dialogues. Story is giving hell lot of messages to the society like… Marriage is not a liability it is the art of living but at any stage if it becomes a liability you should get rid of it.

hak2

It is not like being a women is to sacrifice her life for the sake of keeping a marriage alive. Love means to love the person and to see him/her happy with or without you. It is a message towards the Hippocratic society to don’t under estimate the power of women and not to exploit them in the terms of so called “sanskar” and “rituals”. Women power is something if she is determined she can conquer the world. Overall it is an excellent watch with a message

“Live your life, not a routine”… please avoid the movie who doesn’t like the 90’s era.
