Ae Dil Hai Mushkil – Movie Review

3.0 Stars (3.0 / 5)

A Karan Johar Directed movie after long time and expected at same standards what he delivered till now. Emotion, Drama, beautiful locations and obviously, entertainer too. The direction and screenplay is awesome along with beautiful songs. Ranbir Kapoor was outstanding in the movie with his charming though intense role with comic touch as usual. Anushka Sharma stole the show with her rock-solid acting, hats off for her consistent performance in all the movies till now. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is looking gorgeous with beautiful outfits for every single appearance. Fawad Khan is there in a very short role giving justice to his role.

As shown in trailer movie is all about love stories. To know that who loves whom and what happened to them, you have to watch the movie as it is the main stream of the story and which is also the lacking point of movie. The story is not much good enough as it feels like lagging after the interval and finally ended up in a dramatic way. The soul of the movie is actually the actors who took this movie to heights which makes it an entertainer. There are some surprise cameo persons in the movie which will really bring some smile on your face.

Movie is giving a strong message and inspiration to those who are in one sided love. It actually explains the greatness and value of loving somebody without expecting anything from the opposite side. Along with love, it is actually showing the feelings and string attached between a girl and boy as friends too. The story is little complicated with complex love lines along with a dramatic climax.

Overall, it is a onetime watch and a good entertainer too.

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story – Movie Review

3.5 Stars (3.5 / 5)

Story of Captain Cool, Captain of Indian Cricket Team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the person who lead us to the World Cup after 28 years of long wait. The movie is all about the life of Mr. Dhoni till the World Cup we won in 2011. A regular guy born and brought up in Ranchi, not much good in studies but was very keen towards sports like Football, tennis etc. even though he was not so fond of Cricket in his child hood, but his school coach brought him into Cricket and then a legend started shaping in. It is all about how each and every person in Dhoni’s life supported him and how he fought with all odd situations and circumstances in his life to become today’s M.S. Dhoni. Talking about the performances Sushant Singh Rajput brilliantly played the innings and brought the movie into winning situation as like Dhoni himself . He really fits into the role and he completely nailed the character with all the possible ways. Anupam Kher is there in the movie as Pan Singh Dhoni father of MS Dhoni did justice to his role. I really want to mention two outstanding people in the film industry who always live the character in all their movies, Mr. Kumud Mishra and Mr. Rajesh Sharma.

Movie also brings out the hidden love stories of Dhoni’s life featuring Disha Patani as ex-girlfriend and Kiara Advani as Sakshi Singh Dhoni, his wife. The whole screen play is well shot featuring the era of 80’s and 90’s as the Dhoni’s struggle.

The guy Herry Tangri is there in the movie as young Yuvraj Singh who really looks like Yuvi in the movie. The lacking point as per my herry-tangrianalysis is the lag of story, little before and after the interval. It maybe that we all already know about what actually will happen in the movie. Second thing is the animation thing did in the movie for making Sushant look as young in the initial screen, replacing Dhoni’s face in real Cricket match footage actually messed up and really looks funny. Body goes somewhere and the head is facing somewhere else.

Hidden message behind the movie is that one should really work hard and always remains positive and patient towards there life. Chase your dreams with full of your heart and one day you will reach the place where you are deserved to.

Overall it is a good movie to watch and know about our Captain M.S. Dhoni.

Pink – Movie Review

5.0 Stars (5.0 / 5)

Director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury made this priceless movie with such a perfection and amazing plot which is a must watch for every single citizen of our country. It is actually not a movie, it is a reflection of our society, it is a chapter to learn for every single person. Movie is about three girls living independently in a city and working in respective companies for their bread and butter. They met with an incident in a rock show with some of high profile boys. Somehow for self-defence one of the girl attacked one of them and it became a serious offence. Later on, the boys started humiliating and attacking the girls in various ways. Finally, they approached law, but again unfortunately things were against the girls. From nowhere suddenly a man came to their rescue, an old person with different mood swings suffering from bipolar disorder, a retired lawyer again back to court supporting the girls and the movie goes on with the prosecution of this case showing a journey of evil filled in our society towards a girl’s life.

Taapsee Pannu as Minal Arora is the lead person in the movie with an outstanding performance. She nailed the role with such a perfection that I am sure this movie will really take her career to a different level. Amitabh Bachchan as Deepak Sehgal the retired lawyer is the soul of movie who actually made this presentation big with his amazing personality and the way he delivered the dialogues. Kirti Kulhari as Falak Ali and Andrea Tariang as Andrea are the other two girls living with Minal in the Delhi City. Hats off two these three girls for acting skills and the way they presented the characters. Angad Bedi as Rajveer Singh is the high profile person in the evil side of the movie along with bunch of other boys like Raashul Tandon, Tushar Pandey etc. Piyush Mishra the legend actor is in this movie as opposition lawyer against Amitabh Bachchan and I believe I don’t need to mention about the acting skills of this person.

Talking more about the story, the most interesting thing is the so called Rule Book of the Girls Safety Manual explained by Amitabh Bachchan during his arguments in the court room. I would like to lay down all those rules here.

a) “Hamare yahan ghadi ki sui character decide karti hai.” – It clearly explains Girls should not stay out late. Because it is considered that if a woman is coming late then she may be someone who is having a bad or loose character.

b) “Kisi bhi ladki ko ladke ke saat baith kar sharaab nahi peeni chahiye. Kyunki agar who aisa karti hai toh ladke ko yeh indicate hota hai ki agar ladki mere saat sharab pee sakti hai toh mere saat sone ke liye bhi katrayegi nahi.” – It means a girl should not drink alcohol with any boy because if she does it means it is an indication that the she is ready to sleep with that boy.

c) “Kisi bhi ladki ko kisi bhi ladke ke saat kahin bhi akele jaana nahi chahiye. Kyunki aisa karne se log assume kar lete hai ki wo willingly waha par aayi hai aur unhe usey touch karne ya usey choone ka license issue kar diya hai.” – You should not spend time with boys or you should not go along with a boy in the society especially the places like clubs because it deems that it issues a license to boy to touch the girl.

d) “Shehar mai ladkiyon ko alag nahi rehna chahiye, akele nahin rehna chahiye. Ladke reh sakte hai par ladkiyan nahi. Independent ladkiyan ladkon ko confuse kar deti hai.” – A girl should not live independently and if you do it means that she is having a loose character. A girl should only move out from her house after marriage.

e) “Kisi bhi ladki ko kisi bhi ladke se hans ke baat nahi karni chahiye, kyunki who usey hint samajh lega.” – A girl should not smile or laugh while talking with a boy, otherwise he will take it as a sign or hint to touch her or sleep with her.

The above are the rules of a girls in our so called educated society. I am not saying that every family or every person is following this rule book but I must say it is a rule book followed by every second person in our society. We talk about women security and empowerment, but trust me the day we erase this rule book from every single person of our country, that day we don’t even need to think about women safety or empowerment. I request at least every parent should watch this movie to teach their children about what actually a society should be, specially upbringing of a boy child should be in a manner that he should know the value of a woman and how to give and take respect from another person irrespective of gender.

It is a must watch for every citizen of India to realize what our society is!

Freaky Ali – Movie Review

2.5 Stars (2.5 / 5)

A movie written and directed by Sohail Khan starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui (as Ali), Amy Jackson (as Megha) and Arbaaz Khan (as Maqsood) in leading roles. It is a sports oriented romantic comedy based on not so popular game in masses of India, Golf. Movie was very slow and boring in the beginning with an unwanted song which actually turns off the mood of audience who was expecting some serious acting from Nawazuddin Siddiqui film. Thank God but the movie gradually took the pace and Sohail Khan gave justice to his lead person Nawazuddin as per his capabilities.

As shown in trailer, movie is all about a poor guy from slums of Mumbai who was an under garment seller, later on worked for underworld. As luck favours him, one day Asif Basra (as Kishan Lal) realises the talent of Ali of hitting excellent shots with a golf club. He trains him and make him compete in national level golf tournament. The whole movie goes on this journey of golf and a rivalry with existing champion of the Golf Jas Arora (as Peter).

No doubt about the legend actor Nawazuddin, he was outstanding in the movie with his effortless acting and dialogue delivery. The beautiful Amy Jackson is there in a supporting role, maybe they casted as opposite role but I felt as a supporting role. She did what she has chosen for the movie. Arbaaz Khan as Ali’s friend an underworld person playing a major role in Ali’s life did justice to his role with good acting skills and performance. Huge applause to Asif Basra who was playing Caddy for Ali was outstanding in his role. Nikitin Dheer, Paresh Ganatra and Jackie Shroff (in cameo role) are there in comic roles featuring an underworld gang leading by Danger Bhai.

The lacking points in the movie as per my analysis are the initial 15 minutes of lagging story and the dramatic touch added in the climax as always happening in the very next Hindi movie.

Overall, it is a onetime watch to see the performance of Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Baar Baar Dekho – Movie Review

3.5 Stars (3.5 / 5)

A movie with little different plot than usual Bollywood movies. It is produced by Dharma Productions (Karan Johar) and Excel Entertainment (Farhan Akhtar & Ritesh Sidhwani), Directed by Nitya Mehra as her debut film in Hindi Cinema. As a director she did a fantastic job as the direction and screenplay was brilliantly done that when it combined with sci-fi scenes of the movie it is an awesome presentation. As shown in trailer, movie is all about a person who was too good in mathematics but not so good in living life beautifully, who had a challenge with destiny and rituals. He is stuck into an equation of time where within four nights he traveled into future from his 20’s to 60’s age. Where he realized the importance of family, happiness, being social etc. and he got a chance to see the consequence of the life if he choose his current ways of living in the early age. He solved the equation by finding out what to fix, to get it correct.

Sidharth Malhotra is the leading actor and he was outstanding in the movie. Katrina Kaif is there in the opposite lead role, she is looking amazingly beautiful but in terms of acting its again a little emotionless presentation. Ram Kapoor is there in the movie as father of Katrina, but I guess he is not been used much as according to his capabilities. Well, movie will really give some goose bumps when Sidhart Malhotra really found out the way of living and the actual sense of happiness. It is giving a message to society that chasing your dreams is good but don’t forget to grab your own people while running behind the success.

Other than this there are few bunch of actors like Rajit Kapur, Rohan Joshi from AIB, Sayani gupta in supporting roles. Movie is as colourful as a Bollywood movie use to with marriage songs, beautiful sets and mesmerizing songs like Sau Aasman and Teri Khair Mangdi.

Overall, it is a nice watch to realize the value of life.

Naam Hai Akira – Movie Review

4.0 Stars (4.0 / 5)

What a brilliant performance by Sonakshi Sinha and Anurag Kashyap! A thriller action movie from Director/Producer A R Murugadoss, as shown in trailer it is all about a girl who grows up in a condition where she trains herself for self-defense and to fight against the odds in the society. Later when she is in college she unwittingly gets into a crime which has been executed by four police officers, lead by the biggest evil in the movie ACP Rane (Anurag Kashyap).

Movie is all about the journey of the girl fighting against brutal criminals along with the power of Police Force. She never felt helpless and fought with bravery and wisdom to overcome the situations. Sonakshi Sinha nailed the character and I believe there is no alternate person for this role other than this macho lady. The action sequences are filmed in such a precision that, even after being larger than life it was actually thrilling and entertaining. In our Hero Oriented film industry, this kind of Heroine oriented, specially action movies are little risky in terms of business. But I appreciate Mr. A R Murugadoss for this awesome, fantastic film and this one proved that our Industry can’t be male oriented anymore.

Movie portrays various evils of our society like acid attacks and how should we react towards those anti-social elements, how should we train our children to be self-reliant for all different situations of life. Konkona Sen Sharma is in the movie narrating the story of Akira and in the character of a crime investigation officer. Atul Kulkarni is in the movie as father of Akira, a teacher to deaf and dumb children. Amit Sadh in supporting role as a friend to Akira did justice to his role. Raai Laxmi is there in the movie in a short role as a high profile prostitute and she is the key person behind all the misery that happened to Akira’s life.

Well it is a must watch to realize Hindi Film Industry is not Male Oriented anymore…

A Flying Jatt – Movie Review

2 Stars (2 / 5)

A super hero movie from Director Remo D’Souza under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures. I bet whoever took the decision to make this movie in Balaji Motion Picture was ready to spoil the time and money and to gift a Super Flop Super Hero to Indian Audience. This guy our super hero Tiger Shroff he is a good dancer, having a very nice physique and good looking too but trust me he is not a good actor till now. Very poor dialogue delivery and expression lead his character to a complete mess in the movie. His last movie Baaghi and Heropanti were far much better than this one.

Movie is all about a holy tree which is having the emblem of Sikh Religion “Khanda” and people living nearby worship that tree and had a belief that the tree is a sign of god which can bring miracles to the life. Kay Kay Menon is in the movie as a multi billionaire industrialist who want to make a bridge on the river nearby that tree and for that he has to get rid of the same. Amrita Singh is in the movie as mother of Tiger Shroff who stand against the industrialist and the dirty fight began in between a regular family and the bad industrialist. Somehow in a dramatic situation Tiger Shroff got some super natural powers from the same tree and in a blue suit designed by his mother he started his journey to save the world from the evil Raaka (Naathan Jhones) who became a powerful evil due to toxic pollution and waste dump by our society. In short Director Remo tried to deliver a good message to the society regarding cleanliness and pollution condition of our country but he failed miserably in terms of a movie. Average direction, average screenplay and bad quality animations made the movie really hard to digest.

Only good part of the movie is that it is delivering some good messages from Sikhism and some of the important events of history where Sikh religion proved the power of community and dedication of Sikh people towards the country. The phrase which developed as a joke that Sikh become mad at twelve ‘O clock, it is actually referred to a real life incident which depicts the power and sacrifice of the community, which is clearly explained in the movie.

Jacqueline Fernandez is there in the movie as opposite lead for our super hero in a bubbly character looking beautiful but with not much effective role in the story. I guess the producers would be able to gain some money by selling the music rights of the song Beat Pe Booty as it became viral by the kind of music and dance, along with the Beat Pe Booty dance challenge started by celebrities.

Please watch this movie only if you have nothing to do and having a good patience level.

Happy Bhag Jayegi – Movie Review

3.5 Stars (3.5 / 5)

It is a family entertainer featuring a romantic comedy plot. Lead role is done by Diana Penty as Happy Kaur who is a happy go adventurous girl. As shown in trailer, happy was not so happy with her scheduled arrange marriage with Jimmy Shergill (as Daman Singh Bagga) as she was in love with a regular guy Ali Fazal (as Guddu). Just before the marriage she ran away from home and by mistake she jumped into a wrong truck which actually took her to Karachi, Pakistan. The craziness began there and Abhay Deol (as Bilal Ahmed, Politician of Pakistan) came in to picture. The movie will really take you to a comedy trip.

Excellent and outstanding performance by Jimmy Shergill. He is completely transformed into a method actor from the chocolaty guy we saw in Mohabbatien and Mere yaar ki shaadi hai. It is a must watch to see Jimmy Shergill in this movie. Diana Penty executed the role perfectly but some what I felt she was not the correct choice for this kind of role. No words to explain the excellent person Abhay Deol, a gem actor for the industry, he took the character to next level and I am sure the charming face will remain in your mind for long time after watching this movie.

Even after all the good efforts of above mentioned characters, I bet the life line of the movie was Mr. Piyush Mishra (as ACP Usman Afridi). He is completely crazy in the movie with his outstanding comedy acting and excellent dialogues in Urdu. He is the character who maintained the pace of comedy in the movie from beginning to end. He is an another reason to watch the movie.

Overall, it is a must watch, a family comedy entertainer!

Rustom – Movie Review

4.0 Stars (4.0 / 5)

Rustom is a Crime Mystery thriller movie based on the Naval officer Cdr Kawas Manekshaw Nanavati (1925-2003). It is all about a happily married couple derailed from there life, because the officer’s wife started loving someone else when he was out for long sailing duties for months. When the officer confronted this truth he lost the temper and rushed to kill the person with whom his wife was into relationship.

The movie is all about a suspense which I ethically can’t explain here, you should experience the thrill in cinemas for this. Director Tinu Suresh Desai fantastically made up this movie with excellent cinematography. The way camera is rolling around and the angles used with awesome editing creativity is commendable. Movie was shown in the post-Independence era, i.e 1950’s. The way it portrays Bombay with vintage cars running on the road, men wearing trousers above lower abdomen with short ties. But Somewhere they failed in presentation while trying to show the Delhi Airport and Air India flight, that looked like cartoon animation, but it can be ignored.

Akshay Kumar as Cdr Rustom is outstanding on screen, he is looking dashing in the white prestigious Naval uniform. He is in the uniform throughout the movie and constantly kept a behaviour of a defence personnel with awesome etiquette. When it comes to a patriotic character or a defence character Akshay Kumar always take that to a different level. Ileana D’Cruz is playing the role of Mrs Cynthia Pavri looking beautiful in the 1950’s style dresses. She beautifully played the role of a lady who has been trapped into a mesmerized world where she slipped towards an extra martial relationship. Esha Gupta is playing an irritating high class women role, sister of Vikarm Makhija the victim who got killed. She was seriously irritating onscreen with the kind of attitude she carries throughout the movie.

kumud mishra

Hats off to Mr. Kumud Mishra, how beautifully he gets into the character in his movies is commendable. In Sultan he turned as a Haryanvi speaking coach and now he is a newspaper owner and a Parsi. He was beautifully imitating the way a Parsi speak. He is a character in the movie who will remain in your mind for long time after watching this movie. Sachin Khedekar as opposition lawyer nailed the role with outstanding performance, no doubt he is a legend actor. I found the movie awesome ignoring a little bit lagging in between.

A nice crime-mystery thriller with fantastic performance of all artists.

Mohenjo Daro – Movie Review

4.0 Stars (4.0 / 5)

When the Director is Mr. Ashutosh Gowariker, along with Hrithik Roshan, then no doubt it will be a magical presentation for your eyes. An epic fiction based on the ancient Indus Valley Civilization featuring their city Mohenjo Daro, it is the first commercial film in the world featuring this civilization. Movie runs in 2016 BC era where a farmer from a small village comes to the greatest city ever in that age for rescuing a beautiful lady along with the whole civilization. He fought against all the evil and stood with people of Mohenjo Daro till the survival.

Movie is very beautifully portraying the time zone and Director has taken care of every small detail to give it real look. Like, igniting fire by the friction of rocks, the kind of clothing material used for dresses, even the language they speak was different but beautifully converted to Hindi in a cinematic way that one should experience in the cinema. The kind of trading that was done at that time, the barter system, how horses came to Asia and how the gold trade began, everything is covered in this movie. Locations are carefully chosen where still we can travel behind from the modern things, like outskirts of Bhuj and Marble Rocks of Jabalpur along with Narmada River. Movie is followed by a huge research to write the script with various archaeologist working on these civilizations. Cherry on the top is the music of AR Rahman, that made it fantastic, especially the song “Tu Hai” was flowing from the beginning to end of the movie.

mohenjo-daro-poster-pooja-hegdeBrilliant and outstanding performance by Hrithik Roshan, this guy is setting up a different standard film by film. He is so much into the character that, nowhere you will get a feel that he is the same guy who lives in our time period. The beautiful Pooja Hegde looking gorgeous with kind of costume specially designed with lot of research. Kabir Bedi is there in the negative role, I must say he nailed it with such a rock solid performance. Arunoday Singh with his massive personality added up the evil part of the movie. Other cast is full of talented bunch of actors like Suhasini Mulay, Nitish Bhardwaj, Manish Choudhary and the list goes on.

A must watch for witnessing a great movie along with some facts of ancient civilization.
