Naam Hai Akira – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

What a brilliant performance by Sonakshi Sinha and Anurag Kashyap! A thriller action movie from Director/Producer A R Murugadoss, as shown in trailer it is all about a girl who grows up in a condition where she trains herself for self-defense and to fight against the odds in the society. Later when she is in college she unwittingly gets into a crime which has been executed by four police officers, lead by the biggest evil in the movie ACP Rane (Anurag Kashyap).

Movie is all about the journey of the girl fighting against brutal criminals along with the power of Police Force. She never felt helpless and fought with bravery and wisdom to overcome the situations. Sonakshi Sinha nailed the character and I believe there is no alternate person for this role other than this macho lady. The action sequences are filmed in such a precision that, even after being larger than life it was actually thrilling and entertaining. In our Hero Oriented film industry, this kind of Heroine oriented, specially action movies are little risky in terms of business. But I appreciate Mr. A R Murugadoss for this awesome, fantastic film and this one proved that our Industry can’t be male oriented anymore.

akkira
Movie portrays various evils of our society like acid attacks and how should we react towards those anti-social elements, how should we train our children to be self-reliant for all different situations of life. Konkona Sen Sharma is in the movie narrating the story of Akira and in the character of a crime investigation officer. Atul Kulkarni is in the movie as father of Akira, a teacher to deaf and dumb children. Amit Sadh in supporting role as a friend to Akira did justice to his role. Raai Laxmi is there in the movie in a short role as a high profile prostitute and she is the key person behind all the misery that happened to Akira’s life.

Well it is a must watch to realize Hindi Film Industry is not Male Oriented anymore…

Raman Raghav 2.0 – Movie Review

3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)

Anurag Kashyap is back again with his kind of movie accompanying one of the great actor of our times Mr. Nawazuddin Siddiqui. As shown in trailer Movie revolves around a serial killer who is completely physco. He claims that god gives him instruction to kill somebody and without any ado he accomplishes that. He stalks a Drug addict detective officer Vicky Kaushal investigating the serial killing case. The movie is somewhat inspired by the serial killer Raman Raghav who was at Mumbai during 1960’s. Using a steel rod, he uses to break the skull of the victim. He committed 41 murders and later sentenced to death by Bombay High Court. The judgment later changed to life time imprisonment after his defense pleaded that he was mentally ill.

In the movie Nawazuddin was searching for Raghav, a partner, as he claims himself as Raman and the movie goes on. Movie is completely Sobhita-Dhulipalathriller and full of brutal acts. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s brilliant acting skills can’t be explained in words. Every next role he plays is like he actually craft himself into the character. Vicky Kaushal did justice to his role and completely evolved into the role of a drug addict cop. The beautiful Sobhita Dhuliwala is there as a random girl living with Vicky Kaushal who is later brutally killed by the so called killer in the movie.

Lacking part of the movie that, it is actually missing the real thrill of the subject and without a core of the story needed for this platform. Movie is too much predictable and little lagging in between, which actually dropped the grasp over the audience.

Watch it for Nawazuddin Siddiqui…

Bombay Velvet – Movie Review

3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)

One of the most hyped and most awaited Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet failed to impress audience even after it is one of the most beautiful piece of cinema in the means of direction, cinematography and acting. Lacking point of the movie for mass audiences was the pace and story , which became little slow and lagging after a great start. From the point of view as a cinema lover, I can say that the movie is awesome. But adding some pace and little spice masala overall can make it hit over Indian mass audience.

ranveer
Movie starts with portraying the beautiful legend Raveena Tandon (Guest appearance) in a colorful gown. Very beautiful description of that old era of 50’s and 60’s showing Old Goa ruled by Portuguese, the culture, music from Portuguese and mixed theme of India and British.

karan-joharFantastic and outstanding performance from Karan Johar in a negative role proved his acting skills too. In the terms of looks and performance you cant outrage both the leads Ranbir and Anushka, they were just awesome on the screen. You can enjoy and learn the history of Bombay, the City of Dreams. How the city was born, filling the sea between various islands became a huge block of land transforming to a Mahanagar. Story of Nariman point and how the World Trade Centre came to Cuff Parade. The iconic Air India building of Marine Drive.

Story is all about the Mafias & smugglers flourished after the Independence of India exploiting the poor enthusiastic youth of the country. The so called corruption and politics starts just with our Independence and still the evil is ruining our country. It is a full packed bunch of perfect actors including K K Menon as a Crime Branch Officer and obviously directed by the most talented Anurag Kashyap.

“Do watch the movie if you love cinema, not for them who needs only Bollywood Masala.”
