Airlift – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

One of the most awaited film of 2016, predicted as a block buster before it’s release because of the deadly combo of Akshay Kumar and the story line. Director Raja Menon amazingly made the movie with a perfect direction leading the story in a mix and match of thrill and emotion.

Akshay Kumar rocked the screen with his outstanding performance as Ranjit Katyal (based on the real life character Sunny Mathew),  an influential business person based in Kuwait. He is one of the key person who stood with 1, 70,000 Indians based there and helped them to get back to our country. Movie has realistic filming and sets are amazingly designed just like a war zone. Nimrat Kaur did a fantastic Job as wife of Akshay Kumar, supported the pace of the movie towards the peak.

akshay-nimrat-759

You can see Lena (Actress from Kerala) as a Malayali with some Malayalam dialogues and Purab Kohli as Ibrahim in supporting roles doing really well. The story of the movie is based on the real incident where India owes a Guinness World Record for the largest Airlift evacuation in the history. It happened on 2nd August 1990, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and the Iraq Army took over the Kuwait in few hours. The Kuwait Government escaped to Saudi Arabia without even thinking about their people and massive population from outside Kuwait working there. In the collaboration of Indian Airlines, Air India and Air Force, India did this heroic evacuation by operating 488 flights from 13th August to 11th October 1990. A total of 1, 70,000 people were airlifted to Mumbai.

Movie is also having some beautiful songs like “Soch Na Sake” and “Tu Bhoola Jise” making the soul more strong. I salute the officials who worked behind this historical event of 1990 but on the same time movie also project the lack of coordination and arrangement of our country in this kind of situation. But I am proud that in our current time, we are well equipped and alerted for this kind of situation as an example the rescue mission of Indian national nurses from Syria last year.

Go and watch the movie to experience history and thrill…

Chalk n Duster – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

It is a movie or I can say mirror reflection of our education system, which is getting ruined day by day in the name of business. Movie is a great presentation, beautifully directed by Jayant Gilatar with few lows here and there but overall it is a must and worth watch for every single person. Movie give a message to our society to remember back your teachers who made your life, who build your foundation in the initial almost 15 years of life. It’s all about respecting your teachers and to know the importance of their noble role in our life. It is about the rights and justice towards every single person who teaches, irrespective of the platform.

chalk-n-duster

Film begins with a happy go life of few teachers of a school, lead roles are played by the beautiful Juhi Chawla and Shabana Azmi. Both of them are as always brilliant and outstanding at their roles and outraged the performance to a great level. In between the movie it becomes little predictable and lagging nearby and after interval. It appears that the climax is almost predictable, but suddenly the pace of the movie increase and the climax appear with a guest appearance of Mr. Rishi Kapoor with a nice hyped energy of emotions and thrill. Movie is portraying the senior, educated, so much talented teachers of our country who have their own way of teaching which actually bring out the personality of students and it definitely make the students grab the things easily.

You can see Divya Dutta in a negative role playing it so powerfully that you gonna hate her throughout the movie. Upasana Singh (bua of Comedy Nights with Kapil) is in the movie adding little bit comedy and spice in the drama.

Overall it is a must watch for every person who really respect their teachers…

Juhi-Chawla-And-Shabana-Azmi

I would like to thanks all my teachers hereby whole heartily for making me what I am in my life.

Wazir – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Wazir is a chess piece that moves like a rook, but can go only one square. This movie is a thriller story of an ATS officer along with an accidentally disabled man fighting against an anti-social evil. It is a brilliant package of awesome things bagged in one as Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar and story by Vidhu Vinod Chopra… This deadly combo can make awesome movies like this undoubtedly. Director Bejoy Nambiar has given his best .

amitabh-bachchan-wazir

The legend of acting Mr. Amitabh Bachchan is somewhere overshadowing Farhan with some really catchy and bold dialogues. But the way Farhan acts, it is like, how effortlessly he is in the character, is commendable. Movie starts with a very sweet song featuring the beautiful Aditi Rao Hydari and Farhan Akhtar sung by Sonu Nigam (after a long time, I am hearing  Mr. Nigam in a new release). Every scene is filled up with thrill and emotions which will definitely give goose bumps to audience. You can see a surprise appearance of two persons in the movie giving addon points to the story.aditi

Director worked on every aspect and angle of the movie for example there is a scene where Farhan Akhtar is trying to suicide with a revolver but something distract his concentration and then he give up the idea. This is a natural tendency of human being as once the brain is prepared for suicide and if it get distracted, it is hard to get it back to that decision as the wise part will take over the evil side of our brain.

Wazir-Movie-Farhan-Akhtar

The only lacking part I felt is the final climax, which was little predictable for me. This made me to rate the movie 4 stars rather than my mid movie decision of 4.5 stars.

Well watch it for some really good cinema with awesome story.

Bajirao Mastani – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

It is piece of an art portraying epic Indian History of an unbeatable warrior Baji Rao Ballal Balaji Bhat. This film is one of the dream project of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and it was in development from last 15 years after he made his all-times hit Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. After so much of changes in script, casting and lot of hardwork finally it is released now in the end of 2015.

bajirao-mastani-mos-647_112115113929

This movie is filmed with extensive big sets in combination of high quality VFX graphics. You can expect vast scenes of wars and landscapes along with very beautiful palaces. A magic of artwork and colors is developed by the set built as Shanivaarbada the palace of Bajirao Peshwa (Prime Minister) of Chatrapati Sahu Maharaj.

ranveer-singh-bajirao-mastani

Ranveer Singh is completely gelled up in the role by that bald look exactly as the genre of Marathas. His hard work is exemplary the way he followed the flawless Marathi accent along with body language and expressions.

deewanii-mastani

Deepika Padukone is looking gorgeous as Mastani and an outstanding performance from her, the way she is fighting in the war, the way she performs all the dances, her dialogue delivery and soulful acting. Somewhere I found she overshadow Ranveer Singh in terms of performance. The song Deewani Mastani is filmed in such a grace that it will mesmerize you with beauty of presentation and obviously the beautiful Deepkia Padukone. Priyanka Chopra as first wife of Bajirao, Kashibhai did a fantastic job delivering beautifully the Marathi style and accent. Her look is beautiful and innocent in the movie as a simple Marathi wife living and ruling the palace of peshwa.

Bajirao Mastani Pinga ga pori pinga song

Music of the movie is done by Mr. Bhansali himself and it is excellent and outstanding with great songs like Deewani Mastani, Malhari, and Pinga featuring Priyanka Chopra & Deepika Padukon with a nostalgic touch of Dola Re in Devdas. The background score is also very beautifully composed.

Movie is rich with talented bunch of actors like Milind Soman, Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Vaibbhav Tatwawdi and many more. The lacking points I found in the movie is like it is little exhausting due to the length and little bit slow in between as somewhere the story becomes little slow. The kind of thrill and enthusiasm need to be followed on the war scenes are lacking as the director is more concentrated on the romance side, probably because of the theme that is of a historic romantic story. Well, all the lacking points are covered by the excellent cinematography and the beautiful sets. Trust me it is a treat to your eyes watching this movie on an HD screen.

It is a must watch to enjoy the fusion of art, music and acting with a heart touching story of a great warrior.

Dilwale – Movie Review

3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)
One of the most awaited release of the year is a Movie for masses and hopefully will do better in the box office as it is a complete entertainer even after directed by Rohit Shetty (just kidding ). From the very first screen of the movie you can see the director’s love towards car as onscreen brothers Shahrukh Khan and Varun Dhawan are professional car modifiers in the movie. Movie will definitely gift you some romantic moments to cherish the golden pair of Shahrukh and Kajol.

dilwale
Even though there are some larger than life actions along with cars exploding in action sequences, you can still see a brilliant chemistry between the lead duo. Kajol is looking awesomely beautiful as Shahrukh too but somewhere the age factor is reflecting with him. Varun Dhawan is looking dashing all over the movie and he looks funny with little bit over acting, but I must say Varun Dhawan delivered some of his brilliant piece of acting in this movie. After many decades, Mr. Johny Lever is back with a bang as he is completely outstanding all over the movie and the whole cast recreated the old nostalgic feelings.

varun-dhawan
The lacking points of the movie is after the interval the story is little lagging and predictable. A song after interval is completely useless featuring the lead duo. As compared with the first half the second part is little slow but in between there are some good moments also. We can forgive Rohit Shetty for that as if we forget that 20% of such a long 3 hours’ presentation, otherwise the rest 80% is worth watching.

dilwale-cast
Sanjay Mishra, Varun Sharma, Jhony Lever, and Boman Irani, they are the comic factor of the movie and I assure they will make your day.

Overall it is a better watch for a light colorful entertainer with comedy, romance and little drama. And definitely for the Jodi of Millennium.

Tamasha – Movie Review

3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5)

The duo Ranbir and Deepika is back with the same kinda message – “live your life from heart, not as per the commands of circumstances”. It start with screening of a stage show with amazing fusion of theatre art and storytelling. In the initial stage the whole movie depicts flashback of Ranbir’s child hood which is a beautiful imagination of his life story into some epic love stories like Ram-Seetha, Romeo-Juliet etc. As the name is depicting it is all about in a flow of tamasha or nauntanki.

tamashaaa
Ranbir is looking dashing along with always cheerful Deepika Padukon… When this combo meets with Imitiaz Ali this kind of movie occurs. As like his all movies, this will also inspire you to be a traveller. Both the hero-heroine met first in the French Island Corsica and the Matarghasti song is picturized there and the place is looking amazing.

tmasaha1
In between there is a song from an auto driver, a Punjabi song by Mika all is mixed in such a way that it will definitely mesmerise you with the magic. But be careful, this movie is not for masses, as it is little bit puzzling too. Some where I felt it is little lagging and boring after the interval, but carried back to the required pace within 15-20 minutes.

Overall, watch it to be a self-enthusiastic learning along with a little different Bollywood approach. “

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – Movie Review

3.5 out of 5 stars (3.5 / 5) – #PRDP #PremRatanDhanPayo

When you know it is a Sooraj Barjatya movie even if Salman Khan is not in the cast then also you must expect story of a family along with colorful larger than life royal set and locations with a high emotional family drama which can be not sugar but saccharin for the current generation. Talking about this movie it is the same screen play what he believes and follow from an era. The first thought that comes to your mind in the very beginning of the movie is that Salman is looking so very cheerful and lively on the screen as always Sooraj Barjatya used to portray him.

salman-khan-in-prem-ratan-dhan-payo

The sets of the movie is very beautifully screened in Palaces along with rich apparels for all the characters. Sherwanies, Jackets, Lehngas it is a celebration of Indian traditional costumes. Sooraj Barjatya recreated the Sheesh Mahal, as an ode to Mughal-e-Azam which inspired him to be a film maker… a replica of the Sheesh Mahal in the Lahore Fort.

Even after so much goodies as above movie does not have much hold over audience because there is not much excitement as required at this platform in the initial stage till interval. After interval it paced up a little and gradually the emotional quotient which is searched by audience for Sooraj Barjatya’s kind of masala started flaming up. The entire movie is kind of narrated in songs and it is a little turn off for those who don’t like much songs in between the movie.

anumpam

Bunch of matured actors are there in the movie and you can see some good chemistries like between Anupam Kher and Salman Khan, Deepak Dobriyal and Salman Khan… Then also I would say director missed using the most out of these fantastic characters of Anupam Kher and Deepak Dobriyal. As what Mr. Barjatya use to do like in Hum Aapke hai Kaun, there is a friendly chemistry between Salman and Laxmikant Berde (Laluu). What I guess is, if you compare the Hum Aapke Hai Kaun with PRDP you can find some similarities even though both of them are in a completely different platform. There is a football match in place of cricket in Hum aapke Hai Kaun, same kind of kitchen scene you can see portraying Sonam and Salman followed by song Jalte diye in same romantic way like Pehla Pehla Pyaar Hai.

prdp1
Well, after interval it started a hold over audience by keeping you travelling through emotional highs and lows of various relationships of family like, in between siblings and parents etc. Even if you are in the category of hating the title song of “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”, it is played in such a part of the story that it will cheer you up. I personally hate the kind of negative publicity of those people who doesn’t even watched it and spreading it in social media in terms of their hatred towards Salman or towards the 90’s kind of movies and songs. Like, I read a comment somewhere that “Watching PRDP is like I use to attend Pooja at my home forcefully”. It doesn’t mean that nobody likes Pooja. Some social media groups are making parody of movie parts and are spreading it all over the internet, people sharing it as they found it funny. If you go to watch a movie keeping in mind that it is a bad one, then it is likely very hard to accept yourself that it is good or average. I suggest to be neutral while going for a movie, reviews are good to read but don’t state that as yours too.

salman prdp
Watch the movie only if you like Salman Khan, or you like movies which only portrays family values with a kind of 90’s touch and songs. A simple clean and very colorful movie, which will definitely leave only some good impression over you and may also add some emotional quotient to a person towards their family.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 – Movie Review

3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5) – #pyaarkapunchnama2
A sequel from the same Director of Pyaar ka Punchnama 2011, Mr. Luv Ranjan is in the same track of the old one. Concept and story line is almost the same and trying to recreate the fun and magic created by the predecessor. In the initial stage, movie is slow and little lagging, which is very much expected and usual for this movie. pyaar-ka-punchnama-2-stills09Three single friends discovering there love in different ways and then the relationship starts with the masala and fun happenings of every next relationship. The new faces which were not in the last movie are Sunny Singh, Sonali Sehgal, Ishita Raj, Omkar Kapoor and Manvir Singh.pyaar-ka-punchnama-2_144412229320
I will say movie is good but not much as the first one may be because that one has set an expectation and standard in the minds of us the audience. Movie revolves around the quarrels, mis-understandings and various relationship funda’s of new generation youngsters. Casting is so beautifully done that everybody is look almost real and seriously the next door guys.
nushrat-bharucha
Nushrat Bharucha is in such an irritating character that even I felt sometimes in between the movie to breakup with her even though she is not my girlfriend (lol…). But it was the need of story and she did that perfectly.
Kartik Aaryan the face of Pyaar ka Punchnama is back with the same kind of long frustrated speech of a guy in relationship and this time it is not simple but added onkartik-aaryan
little planned and high-fi elements, not may be familiar to all guys. I felt this dialogue section little lagged but yes throughout it was enjoyable and will be viral again on social media.
Movie will end up in the same mode as like the old and finally I can say it is the same product again with new features and added on masala. It is fun watching it…
