Tere Bin Laden – Movie Review

1.5 out of 5 stars (1.5 / 5)

Average direction and poor comedy leads to a fatal failure of this movie, directed by Abhishek Sharma. No complaints regarding Manish Paul, Pradhuman Singh, Sikandar Kher and other cast, I believe, it’s their lively acting that could at least hold me to sit for two hours. The script and screenplay have a lot to make this movie fantastic but I guess the low budget and poor direction is the cause of tragedy.

laden-manish

I believe the previous one Tere bin Laden starring Ali Zafar was far better than this one. You can see Ali Zafar as a cameo role in this one too. If we talk about comedy, featuring a dupe of American President Barack Obama, which is hilarious in a sarcastic way. Various situations in the movie are like what the f**k man? These are the words that come out of your mouth. Obama holding a gun to fire over Laden, a white painted Sikandar Kher in a bald makeup as a CIA agent, dummy chopper with rubber tyre animated as flying and all made the movie unrealistic. I understand for comedy you can portray anything like cartoon but irony is that there was no comedy at all.

But, I must say Pradhuman Singh rocked again as Laden and you can watch the movie only for him. Manish Paul did his best as required as per his character but movie is a team work if any quotient fails it will affect the whole in a negative way.

Well, watch it if you have nothing to do.

Neerja – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

A true story inspired from the life of Purser Neerja Bhanot an International Hero who played vital role in the rescue of passengers and crew from the terrorist hijack of Pan Am Flight 73 on 5th September 1986. She was shot dead by the Libyan Terrorist while she managed to rescue around 259 hostages out of 279. Government of India awarded her with India’s highest gallantry award for bravery in the face of the enemy during peace time – Ashoka Chakra Award, and she is the youngest recipient for this till now.

neerja-sonam

Sonam Kapoor has done an outstanding performance and the way she portrayed the character, I am sure Neerja lived again for those 2.5 hours. Although she can’t die ever and is alive forever in our hearts. Director Ram Madhvani focused on each and every single element that made the audience time-travel to those period and live the experience of terror which all the people faced at that time. Salute to the parents who gave birth to this brave girl. Shabhana Azmi is playing the role of Neerja’s mother and nobody can do it better than her. She has shown the courage and will power of an Indian mother, who remain positive till the last breath and always the back bone of every family and every martyrs of our country.

neerja-shabana

Yogendra Tiku is playing the role of father in the movie giving full justice to his role. Talking about the pace of the movie it is in the required quotient and definitely an emotional treat for body and mind. yogendraTo refresh the patriotism and humanity in yourself. In between it may feel that movie is little slow but that is overlapped by rest of the scenes which can give you goosebumps. You can see singer, music director Shekhar Ravijiani playing the role of Jaideep (friend/lover of Neerja).

It is a must watch for every single person to keep the courage and bravery alive in our hearts and to stand with justice, thus, to keep Neerja alive ever.

Sanam Re – Movie Review

2 out of 5 stars (2 / 5)

A home production of T-Series, directed by Divya Khosla Kumar and produced by her husband Bhushan Kumar owner of T-Series. Pulkit Samrat and the beautiful Yami Gautam is leading the movie, I guess they both did a fantastic job but movie fails in box office due to the story. A little bit out dated as like 90’s and again like the same week release Fitoor this one is also lagging too much that it is losing grip over the audience emotionally neither anything thriller. Script demands extra emotional quotient which was lacking. But no doubt both leads executed their role very perfect that due to this duo at least we can tolerate the movie.

sanam-re-L

An illogical trip to Canada and Life Coaching funny ashram there leading by comedian Bharti, tried a lot to add spice to the story but it seems failed. Locations and playback reminds me movies like Hadh Kardi Aapne of Govinda and Rani, Dulhan Hum Le Jaenge of Salman Khan and Karishma, but both these movies are far better than this as according to time (Not even can compare). It is all about play back and somewhat Pulkit is looking like Salman Khan of 90’s.pulit

Music is another reason to watch this movie, it is like a musical treat with awesome locations and the beautiful pair. You can see Rishi Kapoor in a very different getup as an old man with peculiar hair wig and skin makeup. rishi-kapoorLast but not the least, I personally felt the climax is the biggest foolishness happened in the script, sorry but I can’t reveal the same in my review as it is against the ethics.

Well, watch it for Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam.

Fitoor – Movie Review

2.5 out of 5 stars (2.5 / 5)

aditya-roy-kapur

An artistic dream converted into movie with amazing beautiful screenplay. If we talk about fitoor’s presentation it is like you are reading a book and the characters, location everything you are creating in your mind as a fiction. It may be because it is somewhat inspired from Charles Dickens’ classic novel Great Expectations. The locations are beautifully filmed in the heaven, Kashmir with very beautiful music by Amit Trivedi.

aditya roy kapoorThe lead Aditya Roy Kapoor is in a shredded avatar flaunting six packs, as a young artist he is trying to win heart of Katrina Kaif from childhood itself. Katrina is looking gorgeous all over the movie and she has the perfect looks for the role what story demands. But even after so much goodies, the movie is a big disappointment at box office. Movie is so slow that it will literally make you bored in almost all places. It is a little low down acting from both Aditya and Katrina, but a fabulous performance from Tabu. Story was fresh, locations and filmography was awesome, I guess the thrill, soul which should grasp the audience for that 2.5 hours was lacking.katrina-fitoor-story_647_121515115632

Well, watch it if you have nothing to do or you are a fan of leads…

Ghayal Once Again – Movie Review

3 out of 5 stars (3 / 5)

It is a Sunny Deol kind of movie with some good acting and performance. Produced by Dharmendra and Directed by Sunny Deol himself, presenting an outstanding work other than some larger than life actions in climax scene. The first half and the major portion of second half is so much connecting with the audience that I bet nobody gonna feel lagging or boring for even a single minute.

ghayal

Movie has a hold over audience emotionally and Sunny Deol nailed the character with so much enthusiasm that it will really give you goosebumps in some scenes. The story is portrayed as a sequel of predecessor Ghayal, Mr. Ompuri and Sunny Deol are the character time travelled from there. Four kids from their happy go days suddenly get trapped into a mess due to a video, which is an evidence of a murder connected with some bureaucrats. Sunny deol appears there as a saviour for them and fight against the evil and there the movie goes on.

maxresdefault (1)

Soha Ali Khan is in supporting role with Sunny Deol and both run a press company with the name of Satyakam. Neha Khan, Aanchal Munjal, Shivam Patil and Rishabh Arora are playing the characters of kids. Narendra N Jha is in the evil side playing the role of a multi-millionaire of Mumbai, possessing immense power and influence over the country.

Overall it is a onetime watch, especially for Sunny Deol Fans….

Khilte Hain Gul Yahan – Play Review

5 out of 5 stars (5 / 5)

I have been reviewing Hindi Movies from last 3 years and never wrote about any plays in this span. But some days back we were invited to attend a play of children performing at Department of Social Work, Delhi University. Directed by a theater group EEPSA mentored by Mrs. Sumita Arora and Mrs Bhawna Dureja. It is a group where the actors are children, aged from 9-16 years old.

IMG_5368

Frankly speaking, I am amazed with the kind of performance, the intensity in the acting, dialogue delivery and the whole screenplay they have brought down into the stage in such short time. I must say it is much better than most of the movies we watch and the biggest effort is that there is no re-takes and second chance for you in a live play. Children executed it so beautifully that I saw tears in the eyes of audience including me.

The play was themed on Parent Child relationship suggesting that over criticism and over appreciation are equally evil for the life of children. The whole play was beautifully directed in a way portraying three different families with different situations where parents are criticizing badly their kids related to their academic performance, curricular activities and in the same manner over appreciation of kids on their achievements on various factors leading them failure in their future. Children who are over criticized for their mistakes or lows turned as depressed and under confident. In the same manner those who are over appreciated or empty praised leads them to be arrogant, slacker and lazy. Later on in the same play they have shown what is the correct way of upbringing and the results of balanced level of praising and criticism.

During the play, I am 100% sure that every single audience can attach their childhood to any one of the scenario or multiple scenario portrayed on stage, which takes you to a journey through your nostalgic moments and that depicts the success and effect of the show. At last but not the least I appreciate the whole bunch of children who fantastically took this act to infinite heights and wish you guys best wishes for your upcoming plays and hope to see more plays sooner…

I would like to mention the whole cast name here and can’t take out any name as best because they all were outstanding.

  • Chehak as (Tanya),
  • Gunjan as (Anita, Zeenat),
  • Hriday as (Hriday),
  • Kabir as (Sid,maid),
  • Mythili as ( Mr singh, Dadi),
  • Nikunj as ( Risshit),
  • Pragya as ( prof),
  • Preet as ( Rashi, Neha),
  • Priya as ( Rimmi, radhika -rashi’s mom),
  • Siya as ( sid’s mom),
  • Smriti as ( sid’s dad),
  • Soumya as ( vivek – rashi’s dad),
  • Vasudha as ( preeti – tanya’s mom).

My best wishes and thanks to Mrs Sumita Arora & Mrs Bhawna Dureja to be keeping this EEPSA group alive with such beautiful works and best wishes for ahead.

Saala Khadoos – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

An outstanding performance from the legend actor Ranganathan Madhavan as a Boxing Champion, who later on served as a coach to the Indian Women Boxing Team. He rocked the screen with outstanding aura and body language. It seem like he lived the character, he appears in a muscular macho look with rough beard and long hairs. As the name of the movie “Saala Khadoos” depicts he is in the role of a tough guy, very hard to impress and totally dedicated towards boxing.Saala-Khadoos-Poster (2)

Director Sudha Kongara Prasad executed the movie so beautifully, it is a perfect blend of thrill, emotion and drama. The girl Ritika Singh nailed the character with her fantastic performance as a poor backward girl from slums of Chennai turning into an international level boxing champion. She is portrayed as an angry young woman, who started her career in boxing for money, which later on turned as her true passion.

ritikasingh

You can see Nassar one of the famous face of Tamil Cinema in a supporting role as a Junior Coach for Ritika Singh. Movie is portraying the dirty politics and corruption happening in our country’s sports authorities. people-nassar-nassarDespite all the barriers the combo of coach and trainee lead them to their impossible dream of being an International Champion in Boxing, earning a gold medal for India. Movie also gives a message to the society and our government that, if politics is evaded from sports you can get champions from every next street of our country. (Agar sports se politics hata de toh, gali gali mai champion milega).

Watch the movie for an enthusiastic story and a brilliant performance by R Madhavan.

Airlift – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

One of the most awaited film of 2016, predicted as a block buster before it’s release because of the deadly combo of Akshay Kumar and the story line. Director Raja Menon amazingly made the movie with a perfect direction leading the story in a mix and match of thrill and emotion.

Airlift-Movie-Akshay-Kumar-HD-Wallpaper-3

Akshay Kumar rocked the screen with his outstanding performance as Ranjit Katyal (based on the real life character Sunny Mathew),  an influential business person based in Kuwait. He is one of the key person who stood with 1, 70,000 Indians based there and helped them to get back to our country. Movie has realistic filming and sets are amazingly designed just like a war zone. Nimrat Kaur did a fantastic Job as wife of Akshay Kumar, supported the pace of the movie towards the peak.

akshay-nimrat-759

You can see Lena (Actress from Kerala) as a Malayali with some Malayalam dialogues and Purab Kohli as Ibrahim in supporting roles doing really well. The story of the movie is based on the real incident where India owes a Guinness World Record for the largest Airlift evacuation in the history. It happened on 2nd August 1990, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and the Iraq Army took over the Kuwait in few hours. The Kuwait Government escaped to Saudi Arabia without even thinking about their people and massive population from outside Kuwait working there. In the collaboration of Indian Airlines, Air India and Air Force, India did this heroic evacuation by operating 488 flights from 13th August to 11th October 1990. A total of 1, 70,000 people were airlifted to Mumbai.

Movie is also having some beautiful songs like “Soch Na Sake” and “Tu Bhoola Jise” making the soul more strong. I salute the officials who worked behind this historical event of 1990 but on the same time movie also project the lack of coordination and arrangement of our country in this kind of situation. But I am proud that in our current time, we are well equipped and alerted for this kind of situation as an example the rescue mission of Indian national nurses from Syria last year.

Go and watch the movie to experience history and thrill…

Chalk n Duster – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

It is a movie or I can say mirror reflection of our education system, which is getting ruined day by day in the name of business. Movie is a great presentation, beautifully directed by Jayant Gilatar with few lows here and there but overall it is a must and worth watch for every single person. Movie give a message to our society to remember back your teachers who made your life, who build your foundation in the initial almost 15 years of life. It’s all about respecting your teachers and to know the importance of their noble role in our life. It is about the rights and justice towards every single person who teaches, irrespective of the platform.

chalk-n-duster

Film begins with a happy go life of few teachers of a school, lead roles are played by the beautiful Juhi Chawla and Shabana Azmi. Both of them are as always brilliant and outstanding at their roles and outraged the performance to a great level. In between the movie it becomes little predictable and lagging nearby and after interval. It appears that the climax is almost predictable, but suddenly the pace of the movie increase and the climax appear with a guest appearance of Mr. Rishi Kapoor with a nice hyped energy of emotions and thrill. Movie is portraying the senior, educated, so much talented teachers of our country who have their own way of teaching which actually bring out the personality of students and it definitely make the students grab the things easily.

hte91bj8kihhwtvq.D.0.Divya-Dutta-Chalk-N-Duster-Movie-Image

You can see Divya Dutta in a negative role playing it so powerfully that you gonna hate her throughout the movie. Upasana Singh (bua of Comedy Nights with Kapil) is in the movie adding little bit comedy and spice in the drama.

Overall it is a must watch for every person who really respect their teachers…

Juhi-Chawla-And-Shabana-Azmi

I would like to thanks all my teachers hereby whole heartily for making me what I am in my life.

Wazir – Movie Review

4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5)

Wazir is a chess piece that moves like a rook, but can go only one square. This movie is a thriller story of an ATS officer along with an accidentally disabled man fighting against an anti-social evil. It is a brilliant package of awesome things bagged in one as Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar and story by Vidhu Vinod Chopra… This deadly combo can make awesome movies like this undoubtedly. Director Bejoy Nambiar has given his best .

amitabh-bachchan-wazir

The legend of acting Mr. Amitabh Bachchan is somewhere overshadowing Farhan with some really catchy and bold dialogues. But the way Farhan acts, it is like, how effortlessly he is in the character, is commendable. Movie starts with a very sweet song featuring the beautiful Aditi Rao Hydari and Farhan Akhtar sung by Sonu Nigam (after a long time, I am hearing  Mr. Nigam in a new release). Every scene is filled up with thrill and emotions which will definitely give goose bumps to audience. You can see a surprise appearance of two persons in the movie giving addon points to the story.aditi

Director worked on every aspect and angle of the movie for example there is a scene where Farhan Akhtar is trying to suicide with a revolver but something distract his concentration and then he give up the idea. This is a natural tendency of human being as once the brain is prepared for suicide and if it get distracted, it is hard to get it back to that decision as the wise part will take over the evil side of our brain.

Wazir-Movie-Farhan-Akhtar

The only lacking part I felt is the final climax, which was little predictable for me. This made me to rate the movie 4 stars rather than my mid movie decision of 4.5 stars.

Well watch it for some really good cinema with awesome story.
